How a photovoltaic power plant works
MORNING
In the morning or when it is partly cloudy, the PV plant does not produce enough electricity. The battery is discharged and the missing energy is replenished from the distribution network.
DURING THE DAY
During the day or when it’s clear, PV generates more energy than you use. The excess is accumulated in the battery. You don’t need power from the grid.
IN THE EVENING AND AT NIGHT
In the evening and at night, or when the sun is not shining, PV does not produce. The stored energy is used to run the appliances.
Discharged battery
When the battery is discharged, power from the grid is used. Part of the battery capacity is reserved for possible blackout.
