Fleet Electrification Using PV Systems and Battery Storage in the Liberec Region.

Modern energy solutions are becoming increasingly connected with electromobility. PV SERVICE PLUS, in cooperation with Fox ESS, has implemented an innovative project focused on supporting the electrification of public service vehicle fleets in the Liberec Region.

The goal of the project was to create an energy-efficient and long-term sustainable solution for large-scale electric vehicle charging in an area with limited grid capacity.

The project combines a rooftop photovoltaic power plant, approximately 14 charging points for passenger, utility, and heavy-duty vehicles, and 10 Fox ESS G-MAX battery storage systems. The entire system is designed to maximize the use of renewable energy while minimizing stress on the distribution grid during peak demand periods.

Main Challenge of the Project

The existing connection of the site to the distribution grid did not allow the required high power demand for simultaneous charging of a larger number of electric vehicles. Increasing the reserved power capacity or building a new transformer station was neither technically nor economically feasible in this location.

It was therefore necessary to design a solution that would enable efficient energy consumption management, coverage of peak demand, maximum utilization of PV-generated energy, and long-term stable operation of the charging infrastructure without overloading the grid.

The Solution

A key part of the project became the Fox ESS G-MAX battery storage systems, which allow excess energy generated during the day by the photovoltaic plant to be stored and later used during periods of increased charging demand.

Thanks to intelligent energy management, the system optimizes the use of available grid capacity, reduces stress during peak consumption periods, supports stable operation of charging stations, and increases the energy independence of the entire facility.

The result is an efficient energy infrastructure prepared for further electromobility development without the need for extensive modifications to the distribution system.
