The battery storage project in the Košice Region enters its final phase. Kysak has successfully completed functional testing.

The project of three battery energy storage systems in Kysak, Barca and Košické Olšany is moving into the final stage of implementation. After months of intensive construction work, technology installation and delivery coordination, we are now entering the functional testing phase, which represents one of the most important milestones of the entire project.

From the very beginning, this has been an exceptional project not only because of its scale, but above all because of the way it has been implemented. Three separate locations have been developed as one coordinated energy system from the outset. Earthworks, foundation construction, infrastructure preparation, technology installation and subsequent system integration were carried out simultaneously. Every step had to be precisely timed to maintain a unified schedule across all locations.

Huawei technology with a total capacity of 12.7 MWh has now been fully installed and connected at all sites. In recent weeks, our technical teams have focused primarily on commissioning the systems, testing individual components and verifying proper communication between technologies, control systems and energy infrastructure.

We have already achieved our first major success. The battery storage system in Kysak has successfully passed functional testing. These tests verify not only the functionality of the battery system itself, but also the correct configuration of protection elements, communication between individual devices, safety mechanisms and the readiness of the technology for long-term operation under real conditions.

The successful completion of functional testing confirms that the system is ready for the next phase of the project and that all key components are operating according to design specifications. Similar processes are also taking place at the Barca and Košické Olšany sites, where we continue final testing and the integration of all systems.



An important part of the entire solution is the Energy Management System (EMS), which connects individual technological units into one intelligently managed system. The EMS will ensure the optimization of battery storage operation, management of energy flows and the creation of conditions for the efficient use of stored energy.

Modern battery storage systems are no longer just a means of storing electricity. They are becoming an active element of energy infrastructure capable of responding to grid requirements, optimizing energy consumption and procurement, supporting grid stability and creating new business opportunities in flexibility and ancillary services.

The combination of high-quality technology, proper design and advanced control ultimately determines whether a project will be successful not only technically but also economically.
